The Matter Obi Presented At PEPC Had Already Been Upheld By Apex Court- Robert Clarke
According to The Nation Newspaper, it was reported that Chief Robert Clarke (SAN), during an interview with The Nation’s correspondent, has spoken on the outcome of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) ruling, which dismissed the cases of Peter Obi and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During the interview, Clarke was asked what his view on the judgement of the PEPC, favoring the incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, against the petitioners.
And while he was responding to this, he said that the Labour Party and Peter Obi, didn’t present their case well.
He said, “The Labour Party was pressing their case on what the law says, and it does not say.
The matter Obi presented at PEPC had already been upheld by apex court.
At least, all the materials they presented before the tribunal were decisions that had been held and upheld at the apex court. So, what are you asking the tribunal to do?
Do you want the judges to sit on an appeal against the judgment of the Supreme Court?”
Further talking, he said, “The question of whether Abuja can be bestowed with a unique status contrary to the Supreme Court’s judgment has already been settled.
Now, urging the Tribunal to establish a special status where a candidate must secure 25 percent or face electoral defeat, is this a reasonable proposition?”
