Sources have indicated that key stakeholders within the Ondo APC support his impeachment. Nine lawmakers presented a petition alleging gross misconduct against Aiyedatiwa during an emergency plenary session led by Speaker Olamide Olajide.

Among the allegations against Aiyedatiwa is his approval of a N300 million budget for the purchase of a bulletproof car during his tenure as Acting Governor.

Aiyedatiwa’s discord with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu occurred during the Governor’s medical vacation in Germany.

Multiple pieces of evidence were reportedly presented to the Governor, highlighting Aiyedatiwa’s disloyalty and untrustworthiness. Allegedly, Aiyedatiwa and some Commissioners held several meetings discussing the government’s direction should Governor Akeredolu not return from his medical vacation.

An anonymous party chieftain disclosed that a female candidate has been identified to replace Aiyedatiwa. Although the chieftain did not disclose the candidate’s name, they confirmed that all APC stakeholders in Ondo support Aiyedatiwa’s removal.

NSCDC Seizes Illegal Refinery Undergoing Construction in Rivers’ Forest

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has seized an illegal refinery site under construction in Umuechem, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, intensifying its war against oil theft.

Basil Igwebueze, the State Commandant, stated that credible intelligence led to the discovery of this site.

The command swiftly took action to secure the area where the illegal refinery was being constructed.

He further mentioned that the oil thieves had already installed two 20,000-liter receiver tanks, two 25,000-liter cooking ovens, and two 4-inch galvanized pipes extending approximately 400 meters.

Basil affirmed that under his leadership, the command would continue to seek credible and sustained intelligence to thwart such illicit activities.

How NNPP, Gov’s Supporters Drove Us Out of Kano – Tribunal Judges

The Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which recently invalidated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s victory in the March election, strongly condemned his supporters for threatening the lives of the tribunal members during the trial. The tribunal accused these supporters of essentially forcing the tribunal to leave Kano, considering their actions as a form of terrorism and anarchy.

Justice Benson Anya, a member of the Kano State tribunal, stated in his judgment that it was unacceptable for any individual or group to threaten the peace of Kano State with violence due to a court decision. He emphasized that the judiciary cannot be intimidated, and judges will continue to uphold justice despite threats.

Justice Anya further criticized the individuals who engaged in such threats, referring to them as “the gang of Red Cap wearers” and emphasized that resorting to anarchy, violence, and killing could never be a legitimate source of power.

He stressed that the judiciary, as well as the lives of judges, must be protected, and such threats should not be ignored but addressed by the relevant authorities.

33 Killed in Petrol Warehouse Fire at Seme Border

A fire at a smuggled petrol warehouse in Seme Krake, a town on the Benin-Nigeria border, left at least 33 people dead, according to local authorities.

Seme Krake is located in Benin’s southeastern department of Oueme.

Dallys Ahouangbegnon, the chief of the local fire brigade, reported that the fire, which started near the pineapple market in the town, quickly spread to nearby houses and parked vehicles.

Three injured individuals were evacuated for medical treatment.

Eyewitnesses who managed to escape to Banouto from the scene described the fire’s impact as catastrophic, resulting in a staggering loss of lives and property.

Firefighters who rushed to the scene faced significant challenges in quelling the fire.
