Going On Strike Can Not Solve Our Problems

Speaking during an exclusive interview with Focus Magazine, the immediate Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government, Hon. Ayodele Akande FCA said, going on strike will not do the country good.

He said, “Going on strike can’t solve our problems. The moment we go on strike, we lose many things. I don’t encourage strikes because the effects are more than the gain.

Although, going on strike is the only language the government of today understand but our labour leaders must calm down and give President Tinubu a chance because he had just gotten to power about three months ago.

They should know that things are not as rosy as at present in the country. Everyone is passing through a challenge, even the workers.

The wages can not take them home and those that don’t earn a salary go to market. We’re all falling through the same problem.

We just have a new administration which is just three months in power and the Labour leaders should please sheath their swords.

It’s not every time we are going to say, there must be a strike. They should sit down with Mr. President representative’s and negotiate, and I believe that he will not disappoint them.

The strike will not add any value to the economy of the country, rather it’s going to devalue us more”, he said.

Hon Akande uses Ondo State as an example saying that the relationship between the Ondo State government and Labour leaders is very cordial.

He said, ” The relationship between our governor and the Labour leaders, especially the NULGE president is very cordial.

When the monthly allocation comes, everything will be put on the table on how to distribute it to each side.

I implore the Labour leaders not to allow external forces to use them against the government.

The interest of the country must be in their minds. They should let us join hands together to move the country forward”.

On the 2024 governorship election in Ondo State, Akande urged our politicians not to see the election as a do-or-die affair.

You must tell us what can you do, don’t say what you can’t do.
Although some people don’t want to hear the truth, tell them.

We want someone who is going to be transparent in his activities. We need a leader who has no in his mind but saying yes. And it must be the person that has the interest of everyone’s in the state at heart.

Akande advises the people of Ondo State to shine their eyes so that they can pick the right candidate in the forthcoming governorship election.

“I want the people of Ondo State to shine their eyes to pick the right candidate for the governorship election.

Let us work together in unity. No peace in disunity. I know that it’s God that enthroned. There’s only one person who will occupy the seat of governor in the state.

It’s turn by turn and if God has destiny for you to be there, you will be there. Don’t go one mile and destroy another person because of your ambition. Let us have a decorum and do a politics of forwardness “, he said.

Expect a full interview.
