S’Court: I’ll Not Allow Any Junior In My Chamber To Carry Such Brief To Argue In Court – Robert Clark
In a Channels TV interview, Robert Clark, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, said that he would not allow any junior in his chamber to carry such a brief that Atiku Abubakar’s lawyer and Peter Obi’s lawyer to go and argue in court.
When Seun asked about the Supreme Court’s decision upholding Bola Tinubu’s victory despite challenges from Peter Obi and Atiku, Clark highlighted the failure of due diligence on the part of both lawyers.
Clark expressed that he was unsurprised by the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision, attributing it to Atiku’s and Peter Obi’s lawyers’ awareness of the legal aspects but their decision to proceed to the Supreme Court to appease their supporters. He requested Seun not to delve too deeply into the matter, emphasizing that he would never allow a junior member in his chamber, regardless of their limited experience, to handle such a case.
“Seun please don’t drag me too much in this matter. I will not allow any junior in my chamber even if it is 1 or 2 years old to carry such a brief to go and argue in a court when I have looked at all the facts that, there is a limitation of time wherein in election matters, you can or you can’t do certain things. They had the opportunity as a pre-election matter they never brought it out.”
Clark explained that he had meticulously examined the facts, considering the time constraints in election matters, which Atiku’s and Peter Obi’s lawyers had not considered, despite having the opportunity to address the issues as a pre-election matter.
