Again: Kwara Monarch shot fead by suspected kidnappers, wife two others abducted
The traditional ruler of Koro, Ekiti local government area of Kwara State, HRH Oba Peter Olusegun Aremu-Cole was shot dead on Thursday night by suspected Kidnappers.
The Kidnappers who eyewitness described as Bororo Fulani reportedly struck at about 9pm, shooting sporadically in the air.
The gun shots sent people running for dear lives.
The Kidnappers, according to sources in the town went straight to the palace where they met the royal father on the veranda preparing to take his dinner.
He was shot dead and his wife, an adopted child and another person were reportedly taken away by the kidnappers.
The Royal father was a retired Brigadier-General. An Electrical engineer, Oba Aremu-Cole ascended the throne in 2010,shortly after his retirement from the military.
A former Permanent Secretary and Asiwaju of Koro, Chief Ayobola Samuel was grief-stricken when National Pilot reached out to him. He said the elders of the town will meet to decide on steps to take tomorrow. He said police has been alerted over the tragic incident.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reacted to the killing and abduction in Koro.
In statement signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaiye, the governor condemned the development, describing it as reckless, shocking and abominable.
He charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.
