The Commander of Ondo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, has confirmed the abduction of travellers by gunmen.
The incident took place in the Irun Akoko area of Ondo State, along Irun/Imesi Ekiti Road in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of the state.
A top security source disclosed that the gunmen attacked an 18 seater bus and abducted a yet-to-be-known number of travellers.
“They are yet to contact anybody for ransom or disclose the number of travellers in their den. I can tell you authoritatively that the police, soldiers and men of the Amotekun Corps from Ondo and Ekiti states, in collaboration with some local vigilantes are currently combing the forests to rescue the victims,” said Adeleye.
He added, “My men and soldiers from Ekiti are combing the forest but the hoodlums did not kidnap the whole 18 passengers in the bus. Some of the passengers escaped themselves, while our men, with soldiers, recovered some of the victims in the night. Our men have combed the forest as we speak.”
