ONDO SPORTS COMMISSIONER CONGRATULATES SUNSHINE STARS ON AWAY WIN AGAINST GOMBE UNITED.
Ondo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye has congratulated Sunshine Stars on their deserved 0-2 victory over Gombe United in match 34 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Yusuf-Ogunleye in a statement, praised the team’s resilience as Sunshine Stars recorded two away wins, one against highly rated Rivers United in the President’s FA matches and also defeating Gombe United away at Pantami Stadium, on Sunday.
The commissioner said, “This is the best of times for the club. I congratulate the entire crew, the players and the good citizens of the State for this victory against Gombe” .
“When we drew Bendel Insurance at home, people thought it was over for the team…after the match, I assured the good people of Ondo State that the team would survive relegation”.
“I want to reaffirm again that Sunshine Stars will not go on relegation.. .We have now moved from the danger zone which is the 18th position to 14th position on the NPFL log.”
Yusuf-Ogunleye called on the teeming fans of Sunshine Stars to continue to support their darling team Sunshine Stars especially as the team enters the quarter finals of the; President’s FA tourney against Kano Pillars this week… and also host Akwa United in the next home game of the league.
“We urge you to pray for the team and solicit your support. Let’s keep the hope alive as we strive to put smiles on the faces of our dear people of the Sunshine State”.
The Sports Commissioner thanked the Governor of Ondo state, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the support and also for believing in the team when all hope seems dashed.
“I want to assure members of the Advisory/Tactical Committee, sons and daughters of Ondo State both home and abroad that we will not take your support for granted especially in our away matches”.
” I want to thank the supporters club and ODSFA for their support. I repeat, what God cannot do does not exist. Up Sunshine!”
Earlier, the Commissioner had visited the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, Minister of State,Youth, Hon. Ayodele Olawande and the Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh on more partnerships and ways to harness the potential of youths through grassroots sports.
He called for more States involvement in national sports policies, to engage the Youths and take them off social vices.
