Chief (Dr) Adeyemi Lacrown Boosting Morale of Sunshine Stars Footballers
The Ikaram-born sports philanthropist who bagged the Akoko Sportman of the year, Chief Dr Adeyemi Opemipo LaCrown has done it again, as he boosting the morale of Sunshine Stars Footballers
Chief Opemipo LaCrown is the convener of Ikaram marathon, the founder and owner of Odomode Adeyemi LaCrown International Football Academy and the sole sponsor of Akoko Unity Cup, which has entered the third season this year.
At the time that the Sunshine Stars of Ondo state was battling with relegation in the Nigeria Professional Football League, with few matches to go, Chief Opemipo LaCrown decided to do something totally new to encourage the Sunshine Stars that he fondly called Boboye Boyz.
He sent a message to the management of the team to inform the players that for every goal scored in a way to secure a win and avoid relegation, he will gift the team a sum of #100k.
By the time the message got to the team, it was a big morale booster.
In their first encounter Sunshine Stars had with Remo Stars on Sunday, June 16th, after the promise, the boys scored two goals as against one by the opponent. Thus, they made for themselves #200k to move to No. 11 on the Profesional league standing.
That promised was followed up with Doma Football Club of Gombe. On Wednesday, June 19th when Sunshine Stars came out victorious with a lone goal in a match against the DOMA Football Club of Gombe.
The effort of the boys then moved the team, which had been battling with relegation in the previous week to No. 9 on the table. This singular move guaranteed their stay in the division one league of the NPPFL.
Thus, the Boyz earned another #100k from Chief Odomode Opemipo LaCrown.
“This is one way to build the interest of our footballers to be at their best and to give their best during sport outings”,
It is also to demonstrate to the team that Ondo State lovers of the sport are following up on the team even abroad.
Chief Opemipo LaCrown notes saying he will continue to support the cause until one day, the team will become NPFL champion.
He also challenged other sports lovers to extend similar gestures to Sunshine Stars footballers, saying that is one way to get their morale boosted to go up the league as the government can not do it alone.
At the grassroot level, Chief Odomode Opemipo LaCrown has used his academy to promote and discover talents locally.
He said Akoko Unity Cup for 2025 would be branded differently to an acceptable and reputable level
