Ondo Newspaper Publishers Elect, Inaugurate New State Excos
Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers (AINP) Ondo State Council has elected and Inaugurated the new State Executive Officers that will pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.
The history making poll was held at the NUJ Press Center, Akure on Thursday 4th of July 2024.
Speaking with the Newsmen, the Chairman of the electoral body who doubles as the publisher of the Newslinage, Chief Charles Akinwon commended the peaceful conduct of the election, saying the election was free, fair and credible.
He thanked one of the founding fathers of the association who conceived the idea of forming an association that will cater for the needs of the Newspaper Publishers in Ondo State.
While charging the newly sworn in State Executives to discharge their duties with fear of God, Akinwon advised them to be accountable and always carry along members in all their dealings.
The results of the election earlier conducted before the swearing in ceremony produced Mr Oyesusi Olaseeni as the President, Mr Dupson Collins, State Secretary and Mr Ayodele Ologunola as the State Treasurer.
Meanwhile, the Oath of Office was conducted on the newly elected Excos by Barrister Success Tohkerijoh who later appealed to Olaseeni Oyesusi led State Excos to be diligent and bring new life into the association, adding that the expectation of members on the new leaders is very high and they can’t afford to disappoint the confidence repose in them.
In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn in President, Mr Olaseeni Oyesusi thanked members for their support, love and for believing in his ability to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years, promising to operate an open door government where every member opinion counts.
His words: We are going to run this government together as a team. The era of autocratic leadership has gone where individual lay claim to the association but I can assure you that we are running inclusive government where all members will have a voice and equal right.
He promised to embrace different interest groups and reunite members of the association saying AINP is one indivisible body while asking those who may feel aggrieved to support the new leadership of the association for the good of all.
The Election and Inauguration ceremony was well attended by members, families, friends and well wishers.
The Publishers in attendance are Mr Charles Akinwon (Newslinage), Mr Alaba Aliu (Democrat), Mrs Ngozi Aduloju (Topshot), Mr Oyesusi Olaseeni (Chronicle), Mr Dupson Collins (PATH), Mr Ayodele Ologunola (Focus), Mr Adu Moses (South West Heralds), Mr Hosea (Exponent) Mr Abiola Akinyan (Trumpet) and Mr Bayo Adediran (City Mover).
