ONDO GOVT, WORLD BANK TO BUILD PRIMARY HEALTHCARE FACILITIES IN 203 WARDS. – As Gov Aiyedatiwa presents Staff of Office to Ajana Afa-Okeagbe. The government of Ondo State is going into a partnership with the World Bank to build facilities in 203 wards of the State to support primary healthcare delivery to the people at the grassroots. The Governor of the State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, disclosed this development on Thursday during the presentation of Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to the new Ajana Afa-Okeagbe Akoko, Oba Mofolorunso Adegboyega Arasanyin, at the Palace of Afa-Okeagbe in Akoko North West Local Government Area. The Governor said the World Bank-sponsored project, which has the counterpart funding from the state government, will take healthcare delivery closer to rural dwellers and reduce pressure on secondary and tertiary According to him, the new facilities in the 203 wards will complement the primary health centres across the 18 local government areas of the State. Governor Aiyedatiwa added that the funds needed for the project have been deployed and contractors being assembled for the implementation stage. This, he said, is in addition to other efforts to improve the health sector including the ongoing recruitment of health workers. The Governor also reeled out some of the efforts of his administration including ongoing recruitment of teachers, support for farmers, enhancing security, improving infrastructure and promoting the welfare of workers. Congratulating the people of the community on the peaceful selection of their new monarch, the Governor noted the historical importance of the Ajana stool, which became vacant following the passing of Oba Oladunjoye Fajana in February 2023. “I commend the kingmakers for their sincere and invaluable roles in the emergence of the new monarch. This demonstrates their commitment to the welfare and development of Afa, Oke-Agbe. “While we strive to promote and enhance the position of our traditional rulers, it is expected that the government’s efforts will be reciprocated through actions that support and complement our initiatives.” Urging the new Ajana to use his position to foster unity, peace, and development within his domain, Governor Aiyedatiwa underscored the significance of traditional institutions in mobilizing communities for positive development. In his response, the newly installed Ajana Afa, Oba Mofolorunso Samuel Adegboyega Arasanyin, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the governor and the State Executive Council for their support for his appointment as a “Grade A” Oba. He described the appointment as a significant achievement and pledged to work collaboratively with the community to harness its cultural, social, and economic potentials. Earlier in his remark, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Amidu Takuro, noted that the coronation ceremony was expedited due to the prompt and decisive actions of Governor Aiyedatiwa, whose intervention played a crucial role in the process. In his goodwill message, Otunba Solomon Oladunni, the Asiwaju of Oke-Agbe, tthanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support in the selection process and its successful outcome, promising that the people of the community would mobilise and vote for the Governor in the coming election. Otunba Oladunni and the Chairman of the Governing Council of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, later hosted the Governor and his entourage to reception at their private residences at Oke-Agbe Akoko. “I commend the kingmakers for their sincere and invaluable roles in the emergence of the new monarch. This demonstrates their commitment to the welfare and development of Afa, Oke-Agbe.

SDP receives APC, DPM members ahead  of Ondo Governorship election to support Otunba Bamidele Akingboye   Some members of All Progressives Congress (APC)and  Democratic People Movement (DPM) in Ondo State have decided to dump their party’s to throw their weight  behind Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (Oba) as November 16 governorship election is gathering momentum in the state.  While welcoming them at the party Secretariat at Oyemekun Road, Akure, on Thursday, the State Chairman of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Barr. Gbenga Akinbuli said the deflectors are tired of the bad government being experienced in the state.  In his words:”We can see the large turn out of people coming forward to join our party, SDP in Ondo State, because our people’s can no longer be deceived by the   APC government in the state.   “Our expectations from the new members is that they should work hard from one unit to unit  to see that  SDP candidate win in their unit and at wards in the polls.   “Today apart from DPM we have other five groups, and this shows the confidence the people of Ondo State have in our candidate, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (Oba).  “We must say that we are very happy to have them and we are still waiting for more people to come from the opposition parties.”  Also speaking with the The Focus Magazine, the leader of the DPM and Director General of the SDP candidate, Engr. Femi said that the purpose of their mass movement from APC to SDP was as a result of the failure of APC at the state level.  Engr. Felix pointed out that they came to SDP to work maximally for the success of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye stressing that he has been a man of substance from his youth.  He called on the people of Ondo State to support SDP before, during and after Governorship election,  saying that both PDP and APC had disappointed the state at one time or the other.  After their offical entry into the party they tore the membership cards of APC in their hands and were given SDP membership cards.

2024: ILAJE PDP LEADERS DECAMP TO APC, ENDORSE GOV AIYEDATIWA   – Ex Commissioner Lebi Adepiti, ex-OSOPADEC chairman Debo Ajimuda, LG, Ward officers collapse opposition in Ilaje   The backbone of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State suffered a fracture on Wednesday as leaders of the party announced their departure from the party ahead of the November governorship election in the State.   The PDP leaders, led by former Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Lebi Adepiti, and former Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Debo Ajimuda, decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).  During a visit to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in his office in Akure, preparatory to their open declaration, the PDP leaders said their decision to join the APC was hinged on their interest in supporting the Governor in the next election.  The decampees also included former political office holders at State and local government levels, as well as local government and ward officers of the PDP in Ilaje Constituency 1 and Constituency 2.  Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Adepiti stated their commitment to mobilising support for Governor Aiyedatiwa in Ilaje and its environs ahead of the coming governorship election.   He said: “We are committed to supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa out of our own free will. We recognize his strong performance since he became governor and we believe in standing by our brother rather than seeking alternatives.  “We believe it is our duty as brothers to unite with him and advance the State. The PDP no longer exists in Ilaje local government. Our ward executives, members, women leaders, councillors, and supervisors are all committed to the Aiyedatiwa project. We are ready for APC, we are ready to work for you.”  Prince Debo Ajimuda, on his part, praised Governor Aiyedatiwa as a determined leader and requested an enabling environment for the decampees to mobilize more grassroots support ahead of the election.  The State Chairman of the APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, who welcomed the new members into the party, promised to support their official decamping ceremony. He stressed that the APC does not discriminate as all members would be given a level playing field.  Responding, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude for their decision to join the APC and support his campaign, describing it as a strong indication of Ilaje people’s solidarity with him.   The Governor assured the new members that they would retain their leadership roles within the APC, reflecting their positions in the former party.  Promising inclusive participation, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the new members would not be marginalized but would enjoy the benefits and opportunities within the APC.  Those in attendance included the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa, and other top government officials.
