Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde (ABENA) to Receive Prestigious Ondo State Man of the Year Award
The Executive Director Corporate Services of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Sunday Ifedayo Abegunde, fondly known as ABENA, is set to be honoured with the prestigious Ondo State Man of the Year Award by the Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (AINPN), Ondo State Chapter.
This honour recognizes his exceptional leadership qualities and his impactful contributions to the development of Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
ABENA, a man of significant influence and a visionary leader, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to service and excellence.
As a two-term member of the House of Representatives, his tenure was marked by remarkable achievements that remain etched in the hearts of the people and his enduring legacy of service and his role in representing Ondo State at the NDDC Board have further solidified his reputation as an exemplary leader.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the President of AINPN, Mr. Olaseeni Oyesusi, described Hon. Abegunde as a man of impeccable character and outstanding achievements.
According to Mr. Oyesusi, ABENA’s nomination for the Award was based on his quality representation of Ondo State and his numerous contributions to infrastructural development and he particularly highlighted ABENA’s efforts in illuminating Akure and its environs through the installation of solar streetlights, which have transformed the state capital.
The Lecture and Award event with the theme, “Unintended Consequences of Oil Deregulation: The Impacts on Nigerians and Lessons for the Financial Sector” is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the prestigious OSDPC Multipurpose Hall Ijapo Estate Akure. The event promises to be a momentous occasion with Honourable Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu as the Chief Host and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa gracing the event as the Special Guest of Honour.
Hon. Abegunde’s recognition as Ondo State Man of the Year is not his first major accolade. A close associate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ABENA has received numerous national and international awards over the years, reflecting his unwavering dedication to the betterment of society. Notably, in 2016, he was also honoured as Ondo State Man of the Year by Trace News Magazine, cementing his status as a consistent force for positive change.
