Nigeria Urgently Needs Restructuring– Barr.Victor Olatoyegun
The Ondo State Coordinator for Atunto Socio-Cultural Re-Awakening Foundation a.k.a. “Western Region Organisation”, Barr. Victor Olatoyegun has acknowledging various bold steps taken by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, said that Nigeria has slipped so much especially due to past misrule, that the country necessarily needs to be restructured in order to make rapid progress.
In a chat with Focus Magazine, Olatoyegun said, Nigeria needs true federalism, and for this to happen, the country must go back to the former regional practice before the 1966 military coup.
He noted that if the people particularly, political leaders are willing, the national assembly just needs to resuscitate the federal Republican Constitution and the Regional constitutions that were suspended by the military coupists.
Barr. Olatoyegun said some of the reasons for the formation of Atunto Foundation is to give impetus to re- creation of semi autonomous regions not only for the Yorubas of Western Nigeria but for other former regions of Nigeria.
Its primary goal of Atunto Foundation is to do all that is necessary (as soon as possible) to ensure that Nigeria is restructured into several regions, each with its governance framework embodied in its respective regional constitutions.
The proposed Western Region of Nigeria (WRN), shall be a federation of Yoruba sub-ethnic nationalities imbued with unfettered identifies and avenues for self actualization and self suffiency.
The Western Region Nigeria will in no time transform into home base for the Yoruba people of West Africa and those in other lands across the world” ditto the Ibos and the Hausa/Fulani, he said.
