Speaking with The Focus Magazine in his office at Oba-Ile, the Ondo State Coordinator for the organisation, Barr. Victor Olatoyegun said the is urgent in view of politicians jostling for another ritualistic general election in 2027.

We need to reverse back to 1963 constitution before another national election. In order to move forward, the 1999 constitution should be jettisoned.

The 1963 constitution is a people constitution which guided the three regions effectively and allows meaningful development and true federalism in all the regions. Each region was able to control their resources for the betterment of their peoples.

Olatoyegun added that it was when the military took over the government in 1966 they suspended the constitution and turned the country into unitary state. This has been the bane of the country’s development, he said.

Olatoyegun called on our legislators to see that a new constitution is made for the country or they reversed back to 1963 constitution which allowed true federalism.
