Oba Ajimo’s Daughter, Adeyemi Ascends as Regent of Akungba-Akoko
A Regent has been appointed for Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
She is Princess Adeyemi Faith Ajimo of the Ole Ruling House.
The appointment follows the demise of the Alale of Akungba-Akoko, Oba Isaac Sunday Adeyeye Ajimo III, who sadly passed away on 3rd March 2025.
The announcement was made in a letter to the Chairman of Akoko South West Local Government Area notifying relevant stakeholders. It was signed by members of the Alale Council of Chiefs:

The development followed a unanimous decision by the Ole Ruling House at a meeting presided over by the Head of the Ruling House and attended by fifteen princes:

The Alale Council of Chiefs unanimously requested that the first daughter of the immediate past Oba—a 25-year-old university graduate—be appointed to sit as Regent, pending the selection and installation of a substantive Oba by the government.
They urged the local council chairman to communicate the decision of the Akungba-Akoko people to all relevant stakeholders in Akoko South West and at the Ondo State Chieftaincy Affairs Office. They also sought full government recognition, acceptance, and support for the newly appointed Regent, Princess Adeyemi Faith .
