Truth wears no mask, HE Governor AIYEDATIWA is indeed a leader who prioritizes results and possesses an unyielding determination to succeed and triumph as a Governor. No wonder, he looks no further than our own Hon. Mrs Omowumi Isaac, A United Kingdom trained Accountant and appointed her to serve in His cabinet as the Commissioner for finance, and today Governor Aiyedatiwa has been vindicated with the report trending since yesterday that; “Ondo reduces domestic debt by 82.6%, highest among all the 36 states. By : Adewale Momoh Akure- Guardian News of May 4, 2025 titled:- Ondo records the highest domestic low debt reduction. “Ondo State has emerged as Nigeria’s most fiscally disciplined sub-national government, having reduced its domestic debt by 82.6 percent within a year, making it the highest debt reduction among all 36 states”.
The debt reduction from 74b to 12b within a year of assumptions of office without external borrowing while worker’s salaries are paid as and when due. Accumulated salary arrears in the state tertiary institutions are currently receiving uninterrupted attention despite the ongoing massive infrastructural projects across the Eighteen Local Governments with special concentration on the State Capital (Akure). It’s unfortunate that this backlog of debts was incurred by another Administration but it’s been paid by this Administration resulting from the financial prudence of the Commissioner for finance, her professionalism and acumen with the belief that Government is a continuum. It’s a result of her unwavering hunger for success, dedication, tireless efforts, strategic planning, commitment to unparalleled work ethic, boundless creativity and a brilliance that cannot be overshadowed or concealed that earned the state this height.
It’s incontrovertible that Governor Aiyedatiwa have never been afraid of standing alone with his thoughts, opinions and actions even in the midst of multiple voices on the dissent because he understands that success comes when you’re intentional about both the company you keep and the people you invest your time. When you find those who elevate you and spaces where you can thrive. He refuses to settle for an environment or team that will stifle his vision for Ondo State. He wisely chooses his cabinet, finance team, and watch his vision transform. He understands that not everyone is meant to be part of his vision.
It’s reassuring to know we have such a capable and competent Governor.
We have all realized the wisdom of his choice in our own Omowumi now.
In Government, who you surround yourself with and where you choose to invest your energy as Governor matters. Being too close to the wrong people can derail your vision, just like a lion wouldn’t work with a sheep, and an elephant wouldn’t live in the city. Each creature thrives in the environment where its potentials are fully recognized and valued.
Not everyone is meant to be part of your vision if it must be fulfilled. Your circle of influence should empower and challenge you to grow. A lion does not seek to lead sheep, just as you should avoid working with people whose conduct can pull your vision down or hold you back. The Governor is aware that where He focuses His energy matters just as much as who He does it with. Just as an elephant isn’t suited for city life, He is mindful of where He invests His time and resources. He chooses environments that align with his goals, where his strengths are appreciated and can flourish.
Hon. Mrs Omowumi Isaac has proved her detractors wrong as she is solidifying her role as a catalyst for Good Governance and Ethical standards in Government. She is also an inspiration for Women/ Female Politicians
