It was carnival-like at the Akure Airport on Thursday as Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa alongside his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, returned home after receiving their certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja on Wednesday.

The Governor was welcomed by a crowd of supporters, singing and dancing in continuation of the celebration of his victory in last Saturday’s governorship election.

In a short speech, Governor Aiyedatiwa appreciated the supporters, stressing that the victory is not for him alone but for the people of Ondo State.

He said: “I am still very overwhelmed with joy and I appreciate God Almighty who made it possible. I also thank the people of Ondo State who have renewed this mandate through their votes”.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said now that the electoral process is complete, it is time to settle down to business of governance, urging the people of the State to continue to support his administration.

“We will consider the people’s interest first in any policy we make, double our efforts in ensuring that the people are comfortable and ensure that all sectors of the State are developed”, the Governor added.

We’ll Leads With The Fear Of God – Joseph Oguntuyi The newly elected President of Akoko South West Youth Forum (AKSWYF) Mr Joseph Oguntuyi, has promised to lead the association with the fear of God. Oguntuyi stated this during the weekend when him and other executives took oath of office at the inauguration of the new executives of the forum held at Obasanjo Multipurpose Hall in Akungba, Akoko Southwest Local Government Area of Ondo State. The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished personalities, Youths, friends and well wishers within and outside the state. Speaking at the event, Oguntuyi promised to use his idea to remodel the youth group so as to make the forum as a talk of town to others. “The association under my leadership will strives hard to achieve its aims and objectives. We will hit the ground running because we have a lot to do” Speaking at the inauguration, the Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), stressed the need for unity of purpose in the development of the local government which is the host community of the University. He expressed his commitment to collaborating with the forum to bring about meaningful development in Akoko South West. However, Prof. Ige extended his gratitude to AKSWYF for its timely intervention and valuable suggestions to the University community. Earlier, the Guest Speaker, Prof. Francis Gbore, in his lecture entitled: “Unity in Diversity”, emphasized the importance of shunning all forms of sentiments. The Don called all sons and daughters, particularly the royal fathers to unite in building a prosperous future for Akoko South West. Prof. Gbore, however, urged the attendees to prioritize the future and progress of the local government, while he congratulated the youth of Akoko South West and encouraged them to actively contribute policies that would catalyze development.
