DHDEI Sensitize and influence over 3,000 youths on skill acquisition

The Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative (DHDEI), one of the leading NGO that committed to fostering self-reliance and skill acquisition among youths and adults, has reached a significant milestone by sensitizing over 3,000 participants across Ondo State in 2024.

Ondo – Ekiti meet in Akure to resolve boundary disputes

This commendable effort was achieved through a series of impactful symposiums held in key communities and higher institutions of learning within the state.

As part of its mission to reduce unemployment and enhance self-sufficiency, DHDEI organized symposiums in Okitipupa, Akoko, Ondo Town, and Ilaje for community-based audiences.

The initiative also extended its reach to students in major higher institutions, including Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) in Okitipupa, Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), and Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo (AFUED).

Engaging Communities and Universities, each symposium was tailored to educate and inspire attendees about the importance of acquiring practical skills for economic empowerment.

These events featured an impressive lineup of distinguished guest speakers, including:
Professor Tomola Obamuyi,
Professor Akanbi,
Professor Samuel Akintunde,
Associate Professor Daniel Adekeye, Dr. Ojo Sweetheart,
Dr. Eddy Olafeso,Henry Ojagbohunmi, Dr. Irewola Oludehinwa, Prince Monday Akinyomi, Hon. Williams Aiyedatiwa, Kelvin Stephen Olaolu, Royal Fathers, Youths and Students Leaders

Key Highlights of the Symposiums:

1. Ilaje Youth Empowerment Symposium held in Ilaje, this session recorded over 500 youths in attendance. The symposium featured Professor Tomola Obamuyi as the keynote speaker, who emphasized the transformative power of skill acquisition in driving economic development and reducing poverty in coastal communities.

2. Adeyemi Federal University of Education Students’ Empowerment Symposium:
This event, which saw over 300 participants, was particularly impactful. Professor Samuel Akintunde, the guest speaker, delivered an inspiring address on “Skills as the Key to Unlocking Opportunities in a Competitive World.”

The symposium also included testimonies from DHDEI beneficiaries who shared how the organization had helped them build sustainable careers through skill acquisition.

3. Symposiums in Okitipupa, Akoko, and Ondo Town:

These engagements brought together local youths and adults, providing them with actionable insights on the relevance of vocational skills. Notable speakers such as Professor Akanbi and Dr. Eddy Olafeso stressed the urgency of adopting practical skills alongside formal education for economic independence.

DHDEI’s Impact

Since its inception, DHDEI has been at the forefront of empowering individuals through targeted programs that address unemployment and enhance economic resilience.

By focusing on skill acquisition, the NGO aims to equip participants with practical tools to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society.

The symposiums also served as platforms for networking, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of the economic opportunities available in skill-based industries.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to DHDEI for creating avenues that bridge the gap between formal education and practical knowledge.

Despite its remarkable achievements, the Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative (DHDEI) faced several challenges in its mission to empower over 3,000 youths in 2024.

These include and not limited to Funding Limitations, Cultural Resistance, Accessibility Issues, Limited Post-Training Support and Awareness Gap.

Vision for 2025
DHDEI aims to double its impact by reaching at least 6,000 youths and adults in 2025.

The organization will continue fostering economic resilience through innovative programs, tailored training sessions, and sustained advocacy for the adoption of practical skills as a cornerstone for national development.

By addressing its current challenges and implementing these preparations. DHDEI is poised to strengthen its role as a leader in youth empowerment and skill development in Nigeria.

The Way Forward

DHDEI has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its outreach and ensuring that more communities and institutions benefit from its empowerment programs.

With a growing network of partners and stakeholders, the organization aims to drive sustainable development by fostering a culture of skill acquisition and entrepreneurship among Nigeria’s youth.

The success of these symposiums has set a benchmark for youth empowerment initiatives in Nigeria, demonstrating the power of collaboration and education in transforming lives.
