- Tension In Ondo As Soldiers Stab Trader To Death
Traders along Arakale Road, Cashhold area of Akure, the Ondo state capital city on Saturday protested the death of one of them, who was allegedly stabbed by unknown soldiers.
They said the unknown men in Army uniform carried out the wicked act as one of the soldiers mobilized his colleagues to forcefully collect some money he had paid for a service after a little argument.
It was gathered that the fracas led to the unidentified soldier stabbing of one of the traders, which led to his death before taking to hospital.
Speaking with newsmen, one of the traders said the soldiers also beat family members of the late trader to coma.
The Arakale axis from NEPA, Isikan, Oke-Aro and Old Garage road was brought to standstill as the aggrieved traders blocked the road.
Commuters were stranded by this action as both Okada and Kekemaruwa find it difficult to do their businesses.
Policemen were on ground to ensure that the issue did not escalate beyond expectations.
The divisional Police officer who was on ground said he could not speak to journalist until he was ordered to do so.
