ONDO GOVT, WORLD BANK TO BUILD PRIMARY HEALTHCARE FACILITIES IN 203 WARDS. – As Gov Aiyedatiwa presents Staff of Office to Ajana Afa-Okeagbe. The government of Ondo State is going into a partnership with the World Bank to build facilities in 203 wards of the State to support primary healthcare delivery to the people at the grassroots. The Governor of the State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, disclosed this development on Thursday during the presentation of Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to the new Ajana Afa-Okeagbe Akoko, Oba Mofolorunso Adegboyega Arasanyin, at the Palace of Afa-Okeagbe in Akoko North West Local Government Area. The Governor said the World Bank-sponsored project, which has the counterpart funding from the state government, will take healthcare delivery closer to rural dwellers and reduce pressure on secondary and tertiary According to him, the new facilities in the 203 wards will complement the primary health centres across the 18 local government areas of the State. Governor Aiyedatiwa added that the funds needed for the project have been deployed and contractors being assembled for the implementation stage. This, he said, is in addition to other efforts to improve the health sector including the ongoing recruitment of health workers. The Governor also reeled out some of the efforts of his administration including ongoing recruitment of teachers, support for farmers, enhancing security, improving infrastructure and promoting the welfare of workers. Congratulating the people of the community on the peaceful selection of their new monarch, the Governor noted the historical importance of the Ajana stool, which became vacant following the passing of Oba Oladunjoye Fajana in February 2023. “I commend the kingmakers for their sincere and invaluable roles in the emergence of the new monarch. This demonstrates their commitment to the welfare and development of Afa, Oke-Agbe. “While we strive to promote and enhance the position of our traditional rulers, it is expected that the government’s efforts will be reciprocated through actions that support and complement our initiatives.” Urging the new Ajana to use his position to foster unity, peace, and development within his domain, Governor Aiyedatiwa underscored the significance of traditional institutions in mobilizing communities for positive development. In his response, the newly installed Ajana Afa, Oba Mofolorunso Samuel Adegboyega Arasanyin, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the governor and the State Executive Council for their support for his appointment as a “Grade A” Oba. He described the appointment as a significant achievement and pledged to work collaboratively with the community to harness its cultural, social, and economic potentials. Earlier in his remark, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Amidu Takuro, noted that the coronation ceremony was expedited due to the prompt and decisive actions of Governor Aiyedatiwa, whose intervention played a crucial role in the process. In his goodwill message, Otunba Solomon Oladunni, the Asiwaju of Oke-Agbe, tthanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support in the selection process and its successful outcome, promising that the people of the community would mobilise and vote for the Governor in the coming election. Otunba Oladunni and the Chairman of the Governing Council of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, later hosted the Governor and his entourage to reception at their private residences at Oke-Agbe Akoko. Kayode Akinmade, loses father An High Chief,  Moses Ade Akinmade, the Obamoluwa of Idanre Kingdom is dead. The late Obamoluwa is the father of the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, and former Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Kayode Akinmade. The media guru announced he passing of the nonagenarian in a statement issued on behalf of the Akinmade family of Idanre, Ondo State, on Tuesday. Hon. Akinmade, who served as Special Adviser on Media to the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole, stated that the sad event took place on Monday evening. The statement said that even though the family has been hard hit by the demise of the agriculturist and culture enthusiast, it finds solace in the fact that the deceased lived a highly distinguished life. The veteran journalist and two-time Commissioner for Information in Ondo State described the deceased as a great community leader, cocoa merchant, and socialite.  The nonagenarian is survived by his wives and children.

Joseph Oni Adu a Befitting 7 Days Burial Rites Family members, friends, captains of industries, chieftains of political parties as well as members of various groups on Saturday 3rd August, 2024 rallied round to support Dr. (Barr) Olumuyiwa Adu, a chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) at his late father’s 7 days burial rites. Some of the early callers at late Pa. Joseph Oni Adu’s residence include members of Cubana Boys Movement, Adu Women Support Group, Women Support APC, Lucky Boys Support Group, Omo Odua Women Wing – Non Indigene, PDM Adu Global, Leader Sisters Club, Akure, Progressive Women Forum Club, Stand Up for Women Society, Ondo State chapter, Nurses 4 BAT Nigeria, Ondo State, Nurses 4 Aiyedatiwa, Ondo State, Original Omo Odua Men and Women Group, Ebira Community, Adu Support Group Ward 1 and NULGE, Akure South among others. Describing late Pa. Adu popularly known as Old Soldier as God fearing, humble, caring and a generous man who lived a life of impact, many of the guests who recounted his life and times said his son, Dr. Olumuyiwa Adu took after his personality just as they prayed God to grant the family the grace to continue to live out his legacies. Comrade Oluwatuyi Olasoji, NULGE Chairman, Akure South Local Government said, Barr. Adu is just like his late father, a wonderful giver who is committed to making the life of others better. A close family member, Oladeji Falokun who also took time to describe the personality of late Pa. Adu said he not only impacted his immediate and extended family but the entire community. While praying God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss, he stressed that no matter how old an individual is, nobody wants to lose a loved one. At the event also was Hon Omolayo Abiodun who said the massive turnout of people testifies to the fact that Dr. Olumuyiwa Adu is greatly loved. ” We are all out here to show our love and to stand by him. Late Pa. Oni was a cheerful and so is the son. I pray that the child he has left behind will continue with his legacies”, he added. Guests were later hosted as the family of late Pa. Adu danced round to celebrate the life and times of Pa. Adu. Dr. Olumuyiwa Adu while appreciating the people for coming out in their hundreds to honour him with their presence said, he is touched by the overwhelming show of love in celebrating his late father’s life. He also acknowledged that his late father lived a life of enduring legacies and that he will be greatly missed. Pa Joseph Oni Adu died at the age 94 and until his death, he was a respected former teacher and Nigerian Army veteran.

For those who dont know, The Stream Spot sells the best Jollof Rice in town and the place is a life saver for visitors at the state capital who are hungry at night. The place serves as a go to restaurant for everyone in Alagbaka and its environments at anytime of the day. The Governor’s Visit to the place shows, he is Indeed A working Governor who supports hardworking business owners. Even though, i dont know the owner of the streams, but if he ever gets to read this.
