Naija News recalls that Obasanjo who was a guest of Governor Seyi Makinde, commanded traditional rulers to stand up and after they complied, he ordered them to sit down.

But one of the kings, who attended the event, the Onipetu of Ijeru Kingdom, Oba Sunday Oyediran, yesterday, said the former president should not be taken seriously adding that senility is affecting him.

Speaking with Vanguard, Oyediran said, “Why should we bother ourselves with what he said? Age is catching up with him and it appears senility is affecting him. Don’t let us misinterpret what happened.

“It wasn’t Obasanjo that invited us to the event but Governor Seyi Makinde. If it was Obasanjo who invited us and he said what he said, we would not have obeyed him. Since it wasn’t Governor Seyi Makinde that humiliated us, why then should we walk out on him?

“That’s what people didn’t understand. Governor Makinde gives us our due respect and we respect him too. Even we respect Obasanjo too, but if you respect someone and he betrays that trust, it is left for him and his creator. We don’t see it the way people see it. We did what was expected of us. Obasanjo lied against us. We were standing before he mounted the podium. It was when he got the microphone that we sat down. Did he expect us to remain standing while he was talking?”

The Vice Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Alao also said: “We respect protocols. We will not explain what happened last Friday, it is unfortunate what happened. Members of the Oyo State Council of Obas are law-abiding citizens and we respect constituted authority. We are also leaders; we will respond at a later time but not now.”

Ondo Govt Sets To Appoint Transition Committees For LGs, LCDAs    Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has said the government will soon constitute transition committees for the 18 Local Government Areas and 33 Local Council Development Areas ahead of the coming local government elections in the State. Governor Aiyedatiwa disclosed this during a meeting with the former members of Caretaker Committees of the LGAs and LCDAs at the Governor’s Office in Akure. The Governor also disclosed that his administration does not have plans to abolish the recently created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state. According to the Governor, the creation of the LCDAs is one of the legacies of the late former Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, which must be preserved.   The Governor told the 255 former appointees that the case instituted in court by the opposition party and subsequent court injunction had prevented their inauguration and assumption of office. The Governor said efforts were being intensified to resolve the court case through a political solution which has been granted by the court. He added that once the case is finally withdrawn from the court, all the errors made in the composition of the list of the appointees would be corrected and transition committees will be inaugurated. The Governor urged the former appointees to demonstrate more commitment to the party within their respective local government areas. “It is important for us to come together as one big family for the progress of the APC and the development of our State,” he said, stressing that there is no division in the party’s leadership. The State APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, echoed the governor’s words of unity in the party, commending the Governor for the interface with the party members.    Hon. Olaniyi Gbenga and Mrs. Funke Kumuyi, who spoke on behalf of the former appointees, thanked the Governor the interface and pledged their loyalty and support for his administration.

Akeredolu Was A Weakling, Mismanaged His Health – Ed- Aide Doyin Odebowale, a former Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategies to the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, has described his late principal as a “weakling.” Naija News reported that Odebowale resigned his appointment hours after the passing of Governor Akeredolu on Wednesday in Germany. In his letter of resignation addressed to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Odebowale cited Akeredolu’s death as the reason for his decision. However, in a viral video on Saturday, Odebowale disclosed that Akeredolu mismanaged his health by not resting, and some of his aides didn’t allow him to sleep. The former aide stated that when the late governor took ill, some of his political associates started holding meetings and discussing his demise when he was alive. He said: “Aketi mismanaged his health. The perfidy of many of his aides was unrivalled. They won’t allow him to rest, they won’t allow him to sleep. He took ill and the next thing is when will he die? People started holding meetings against the man who never offended them. I will talk about Babajide once Aketi is buried.” Odebowale also berated his former principal for failing to caution his wife, Betty, over her recent outburst, adding that allegations of forgery against Akeredolu were false. He added: “Aketi was weakling, he would have called his wife to order, especially when she was saying per adventure. I would have sent her away. Her outburst was unAfrican. What point was she proving? I know Aketi was not sleeping with anybody. Even from Ibadan, I knew that. But these people were peddling influence. “Aketi rejected many chieftaincy titles. He stuck to Arakunrin. Those that made allegations of forgery should bring out the documents and show who collected the money.” Odebowale said some members of the Akeredolu cabinet were unknown political entities until the wife of the late governor and her son nominated them. He said: “If Babajide and his mother were found to have stolen money, send them to jail. “All of you members of the cabinet who were unknown political entities until Mrs. Akeredolu and her son nominated you. It was Babajide and his mother who submitted the name of the commissioner, Rasaq Obe, who is now going about to tell the world he paid to be made a commissioner.” Odebowale challenged Obe to tell the world how much he paid to the former First Lady and her son for his name to be submitted. He added: “Come out and tell the world how you became more important than those in Ifedore who have been with Aketi since 2012. You are now telling the world because you are quarrelling with Babajide over diesel supply. I have more to say after Aketi is buried.” Ige Olugbenga is a fine-grained journalist. He loves the smell of a good lead and has a penchant for finding out something nobody else knows.
