The woman has been identified as Damilola. Olanipekun is on the run after using machete to inflict injuries on his wife.

The incident happened at Idashen community, Owo local government area.

Sources said the 14-year- old step-daughter called her mother, who had travelled, to report that her step-father has been harassing her s3xually.

The sources said the girl did not disclose the affair because she was scared of how her mother would react.

Narrating what happened, the mother said she rushed back home after her daughter told her about the affair and confronted her husband.

She said he apologised and admitted that he was wrong.

Damilola stated three days after she confronted her husband about the affair,  he attacked her with a machete after sending their children on errand.

According to her: “I asked him why he returned early, he said they hindered him from going to work. He dashed into the bedroom and returned with a cutlass.

“He said that he wanted to go and clear his site but he locked me inside the bedroom and attacked me with his fist. He used the cutlass to slash my skin and every other part of my body. He used a hammer to hit my head.

“Neighbours could not rescue me because the door was locked. I was rushed to the hospital after I managed to open the door.”

Some eye witnesses said the woman was weak  and laid helplessly looking almost like a corpse.

They said doctors thought she was brought in dead but realised that she was still breathing.

The woman, who is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Owo, sustained serious injuries inflicted on her during the vicious attack.

They said she was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo but was referred to another hospital due to the high degree of injuries inflicted on her by the fleeing husband.

Ondo Police spokesman, SP Funmilayo Omisanya-Odunlami, who confirmed the incident said the police was still searching for the suspect.

BREAKING NEWS: NATIONAL ASSEMBLY GRANTS FULL AUTONOMY TO THE 774 LOCAL GOVERNMENTS OF NIGERIA AS INEC IS NOW TO CONDUCT LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS… “The National Assembly on Tuesday, granted full financial and administrative autonomy to all the 774 local council authorities across Nigeria by amending section 124 of the nation’s constitution. The section provides a consequential provision for the making of the local councils, a full third tier government without undue interference from the state governments. The ammendment was one of the 22 others approved by the House of Representatives last week and ratified by the Senate on Tuesday. Both chambers had through a conference committee harmonised versions of the ammendments into the constitution carried out by each of them last month. By the development, the National Assembly had ratified all the 23 clauses and sections that had been ammended by both chambers. The newly ammended document which would be sent to States Houses of Assembly, for approval, also approved the creation of the Office of Auditor General of the Local Government as well as the State Local Government Service Commission. The section equally deleted the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) from the constitution thereby vesting the powers to conduct council elections on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). It however, retained the immunity clause in the constitution for the President and Governors by adopting the Senate version of the ammendments on the issue and rejected the House of Representatives version which removed the immunity clause. The National Assembly also made provisions for Independent Candidacy in future elections in Nigeria by amending sections 65 and 106 of the 1999 constitution…” @highlight
