Oba Ademehinti celebrates new yam festival
It was a celebration galore recently when the Asakin of Abo-Asakin, in Akure North Local Government, area of Ondo State, Oba (Dr) Sunday Adebayo Ademehinti Adeoriokin and his people celebrated this year new yam festival.
The event which took place in the front of Asakin palace was witnessed by the Royal father’s, from the local government, politicians, clubs, leaders, people from far and near and well-wishers.
In chat with The Focus Magazine, the Asakin of Abo-Asakin, Oba (Dr) Sunday Adebayo Ademehinti, thanked the Almighty God for making the day a reality.
He said, “I returned all the glory to Almighty God for making the day a reality.
What we are celebrating today is the new yam festival which we inherited from our forefathers.
We used it to thank god of the land for allowing us to eat from what we planted the previous year”.
Oba Ademehinti stated further that since he ascended the throne of his forefathers some years ago, the town has witnessed rapid development as people has been coming there to build houses and transit business.
Oba Ademehinti urged the Ondo State government to help the town by constructing a road that we link the community with the main road.
He implored the Aiyedatiwa led government through the ministry of education to send teachers to the only secondary school in the community.
Oba Ademehinti said, “the school was built through the community efforts to easy problem been face by their children.
It’s the community that cater for those that are working in the school,” said.
As the governorship election in Ondo State is around the corner, Oba Ademehinti enjoined all the governorship aspirants to play the game according to the rule.
Meanwhile, the Asae of Abo-Asakin who is also double as the General Secretary of the community, High Chief, Aladelusi, thank people of the community and resident in the community for allowing peace to reign in the area.
He called on sons and daughters from the community to come back home and development their ancient town.
He said, ” I called on sons and daughters from Abo-Asakin to come back home and develop their ancient town.
Abo-Asakin is witnesses rapid development, and they should come back home and joining hands with Kabiyesi to move the town forward”, he said.
